Audiomonument - B.R.

“I was born — though I still can’t believe it —
In the shadow of the factories’ maze,
In a dove-colored land that for ages remains
split by cops and by thieves in their ways.”

— from the poem «How the granite is covered in ice» by Boris Ryzhy

Audiomonument - B.R. is the sound sculpture, inspired by the life and fate of the poet Boris Ryzhy. The object soldered from rusted pipes, resembling a musical organ growing out of the ground contains 4 speakers, which play a collage composition of orthodox church choir and church bells.

The counterpoint between the appearance of the sculpture and the sound it produces draws a paralell to the contrast between B. Ryzhy poems and the conditions in which they were created.
